Summary

The Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is refusing to acknowledge United States President-elect Joe Biden's win. On Tuesday, while speaking at the State Department, Pompeo said in part, "there will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration." Sources tell CNN, White House officials are advising agencies to prepare their budgets as if Trump won the election.   United States President-elect Joe Biden projected confidence about his transition to the White House, despite Donald Trump's refusal to concede. Biden called Trump's actions after the election an "embarrassment." He also told reporters in Delaware that he does not see a need for legal action. Biden said he has not yet spoken to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky. However, Biden says he's confident he will do so in the near future. Dr. Anthony Fauci says a Covid-19 vaccine may be widely available by the end of April next year. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases also told CNN's Jake Tapper that the coronavirus pandemic could get worse. Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, has shot down Republican senators' calls for his resignation. Monday, he released a statement saying in part, "the voters of Georgia hired me, and the voters will be the one to fire me."
