President Biden has announced a tougher stance on immigration at the border, saying the U.S. would begin turning away Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans who cross the border from Mexico illegally. Under the new rules, migrants who come to the U.S. without first asking for asylum in the countries they travel through will be denied asylum and deported, a nearly identical plan to one the administration has used to drastically reduce the number of Venezuelan migrants traveling to the U.S.
