Some schadenfreude are attached to the cessation of America's flirtation with fascism yesterday, but oddly watching

Joe Biden's speech, the thing I felt most keenly was actually fear, because my God, we came so

close. I say we loosely. I don't actually think it's entirely fair of Donald Trump to have

described Boris Johnson as Britain Trump, although of course

he did. But it was watching Biden describe humanity that moved me most. And the reason I use the

word fear is because he confirmed, didn't he, that all of our concerns were quite genuine.

How many times over the last four years have we talked about the flesh-coloured body stocking?

How many times have we wondered whether actually there might be something wrong with our eyesight?

And what we're seeing in front of us is not what it appears to be.
