The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/08/2023):
3:05pm- On Monday, President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced a proposal that would mandate airlines compensate passengers for delayed or cancelled flights—the compensation could include hotels, meals, and/or travel vouchers.
3:30pm- While announcing his administration’s new policy proposal forcing airlines to compensate passengers for missed or cancelled flight, Biden blamed airlines for individuals being unable to spend time with their families over the holiday season. The Daily Wire’s Ben Zeisloft notes, airlines “experienced holiday travel disruptions last year due to extreme winter weather conditions, staff shortages, and an outdated computer system.” You can read more here: https://www.dailywire.com/news/airlines-may-soon-be-on-the-hook-for-delayed-and-canceled-flights-transportation-dept-says
3:45pm- Guy Ciarrocchi—Real Clear Pennsylvania—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest editorial, “The Suburbs Are Pulling Us Apart.” Ciarrocchi writes. “Somewhere, over the last generation, the suburbs had become ground zero for every societal, cultural – and, ultimately, every political – problem in Pennsylvania and in our nation. Think of the battles of just the last few years. The biggest fights over Covid mandates took place in the suburbs – not in rural Pennsylvania, where most people went about their business. Not in Philadelphia, where many could walk to stores or order takeout or delivery, as they did frequently even before the lockdowns.” You can read the Ciarrocchi’s full article here: https://www.realclearpennsylvania.com/articles/2023/05/01/the_suburbs_are_pulling_us_apart_896859.html
4:05pm- During ABC’s This Week, George Stephanopoulos noted a “brutal” Washington Post/ABC News poll for President Joe Biden—indicating a struggling approval rating, concerns about his age, and a projected 2024 loss in a hypothetical rematch with former President Donald Trump.
4:20pm- According to a report from Politico, the Biden Admin is “bracing for impact” as the Justice Department determines whether or not to charge Hunter Biden. Jonathan Lemire writes, “[i]n conversations, Democrats and senior West Wing aides are downplaying the potential impact, arguing Hunter Biden was a factor in the 2020 election and voters elected his father anyway. They point out the president’s top rival, Donald Trump, was just indicted himself. But people close to Biden still worry about the personal toll it will take on a father who has already felt anguish about a son’s struggles amid a long history of family tragedy.” You can read Lemire’s article here: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/06/bracing-for-impact-biden-world-preps-for-hunter-biden-fallout-00095636
4:30pm- Appearing on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) explained that he plans to hold a press conference on Wednesday where he will reveal bank records indicating that the Biden family may have taken money from foreign adversaries.
4:40pm- While appearing on PBS’s Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, legendary actor Richard Dreyfuss was critical of the “diversity mandates” adopted by the Academy Awards. Under the new rules, films must meet certain diversity hiring quotas in order to be eligible for the Academy’s “best picture” nomination.
4:50pm- During an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, President Joe Biden insisted that his son Hunter “has done nothing wrong”—suggesting that he does not believe the Justice Department will charge him with any crimes.
5:05pm- The Drive at 5: Dr. E.J. Antoni—Economist & Research Fellow at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s announced proposal that would mandate airlines compensate passengers for delayed or cancelled flights—the compensation could include hotels, meals, and/or travel vouchers. But what is the economic impact of this new policy? How drastically could flight prices increase?
5:15pm- After weeks of media personalities labeling conservative reports that Democrats were seeking to ban gas stoves, Governor Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers made New York the first state to ban the installation of gas stoves in new construction projects. Now, the Biden Administration’s Energy Department is passing efficiency regulations that could impact dishwashers.
