3:30pm- While announcing his administration’s new policy proposal forcing airlines to compensate passengers for missed or cancelled flight, Biden blamed airlines for individuals being unable to spend time with their families over the holiday season. 4:20pm- According to a report from Politico, the Biden Admin is “bracing for impact” as the Justice Department determines whether or not to charge Hunter Biden. Jonathan Lemire writes, “[i]n conversations, Democrats and senior West Wing aides are downplaying the potential impact, arguing Hunter Biden was a factor in the 2020 election and voters elected his father anyway. They point out the president’s top rival, Donald Trump, was just indicted himself. 4:30pm- Appearing on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) explained that he plans to hold a press conference on Wednesday where he will reveal bank records indicating that the Biden family may have taken money from foreign adversaries.

4:40pm- While appearing on PBS’s Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, legendary actor Richard Dreyfuss was critical of the “diversity mandates” adopted by the Academy Awards. Under the new rules, films must meet certain diversity hiring quotas in order to be eligible for the Academy’s “best picture” nomination.

4:50pm- During an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, President Joe Biden insisted that his son Hunter “has done nothing wrong”—suggesting that he does not believe the Justice Department will charge him with any crimes.

5:05pm- The Drive at 5: Dr. E.J. 5:40pm- Speaking with Shannon Bream on Fox News, Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that the crisis at the U.S. southern border was “caused solely by policies put into place by Joe Biden.” Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot condemned Abbott for busing migrants to sanctuary cities—though, she also stated that the federal government needed to do more to stifle illegal border crossings.

6:05pm- During Monday’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed claims that there is a crisis at the U.S. southern border and explained the Biden Administration is doing everything it can—placing the blame for any border issues on Congressional inaction.

6:15pm- While appearing on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that the Biden Administration has been preparing for the end of Title 42, and subsequent surge of migrant crossings at the U.S. southern border, for over a year. However, in the very same interview, conceded that migrant processing centers in Columbia and Guatemala won’t be functional for several weeks.

6:35pm- A California reparations task force has approved payments of $1.2 million for each black resident to compensate for past discrimination and slavery. But during the meeting, activists argued that the amount paid per black citizen should be $200 million.
