I actually believe that that initial outpouring of the Holy Ghost accompanied by speaking in tongues is a way to keep out those that are proud.

God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.

Now let me slow down and let me just speak to those who are afraid of receiving the

Holy Ghost that way, or are very angry.

And the reason they're angry, dear Biblos audience, is not always because they're just

evil people.

My heart goes out to them.

One of them responded angrily to a session we did, an episode we did on speaking in tongues. And as he spoke, it finally emerged.

He said it almost to himself on camera.

He said, when I was younger, I tried to receive the Holy Ghost, and I couldn't. And I never did. And so our, and then he became very strident. He said, are you telling me that I'm not saved? No, what I'm saying is you have to seek by faith for that great gift of the Holy Ghost.

And it is for whosoever will.

Many people seek it by their own works, by their own efforts, by their own actions.

They try to control the experience when receiving the Holy Ghost evidence

by speaking in tongues is the ultimate surrender.

Let me say that again.

It is the ultimate primary surrender.

You can surrender your body,

you can surrender your possessions,

you can surrender a lot of things, but the surrender

of actually yourself, your mind, your will is done when you receive the gift of the Holy

Ghost. And speaking in tongues is that final surrender. It's where you relinquish your will.

You relinquish your carnal reasoning and understanding.
