About the speaker: Michael Dauphinais, Ph.D. is Professor and Chair of the Theology Department at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida. Professor Dauphinais holds a B.S.E. from Duke University, an M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. He has co-authored Knowing the Love of Christ: An Introduction to the Theology of Thomas Aquinas and Holy People, Holy Land: A Theological Introduction to the Bible. He has co-edited multiple volumes as well as numerous articles and chapters in books dedicated to theology and exegesis in Aquinas and other topics relating to Catholic theology. Professor Dauphinais previously served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. His favorite courses are C.S. Lewis, Triune God, and the Colloquium on Ancients and Moderns. He also enjoys riding horses and running.

| 0:08.0 | So tonight, what I want to talk about is a key theme, which is that the crisis in the church is ultimately a crisis of faith. |
| 0:22.5 | And my suggestion is going to be that the crisis of faith is ultimately a crisis of faith in the Bible as the Word of God. |

| 0:40.4 | purpose. Today, many people are walking away from the Catholic faith. Many older people, younger |
| 0:49.2 | people, and middle-aged people are distancing themselves from the church and from Christianity. |
| 0:57.0 | One of the largest, fastest growing religious groups in America right now are the nuns, not the religious kind, right? |
| 1:06.0 | But the N-O-N-E-S, right, not religiously affiliated. |
| 1:12.1 | We're really witnessing a post-Christianization or de-Christianization of a massive scale. |
| 1:21.5 | So how do we respond? |
| 1:24.9 | What I would, what we'd like to do is suggest that if we can recover a faith in the Bible, |
| 1:32.8 | we can recover a faith in really God and in Christ and ultimately a faith that will lead us back to the church. |
| 1:44.6 | And what we want to do is suggest that in a way, |
| 1:47.0 | when we can begin to discern the meaning of the Bible, |
| 1:51.7 | life can be richer, faith stronger, |
| 1:55.9 | more meaningful when we immerse ourselves in Scripture. |
| 2:03.3 | Now, before we look at some specific questions and objections, I want to suggest three ideas for kind of reimagining, reconceiving |
| 2:11.3 | our relationship with the Bible as the Word of God. So, but if we're going to receive the Bible, let's think about the Bible is the Word of God. |
