Right now we're going through the entire Bible to understand it is one big cohesive story.

We're covering one book each day, and this one is about Romans.

As we turn the page from the book of Acts to the book of Romans, we are getting into a whole

new genre, a whole new mode of the Bible.

With the New Testament, we got the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

We all tell the story of Jesus in different ways for different audiences with different

points of emphasis, leaning into different things to achieve what they're trying to achieve.

It gives us a very thorough picture of how Jesus is and what He did and what the point is

of what He did.

It also sets the trajectory for this eyes up, arrows out, always forward movement in the

building of this kingdom, of this new family of faith.

We see how that plays out throughout the book of Acts as a whole bunch of people latch

onto this impulse and go and do what they're supposed to do.

When we get done with the book of Acts, that's the end of narrative stuff in the New Testament

and as we turn the page over to the book of Romans, what we see is that now the first

couple sentences sounds like a letter because it is a letter.

Romans 1 opens with Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart

for the gospel of God.

The gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding

his son who as to his human nature was a descendant of David.
