0:21.6	because we're starting a new series today where we're going through the entire Bible,
0:26.0	one book per day until we're done, and we're doing them in order, which means we've got

0:31.6	It's the origin story for the whole narrative of the Bible.
0:36.0	It's the origin story for humanity, existence, the human problem, death, government, Israel,
0:43.8	God's redemptive plan, and it is high drama from beginning to end.
0:49.2	There's not really one human character, though, for you to latch on to.
0:53.9	We figure out really quickly that the main character of Genesis is the first character
0:57.8	to be mentioned, which is in Genesis 1.1, in the beginning, God created the heavens and
1:02.6	the earth.
1:03.6	That's your main character.
1:05.1	Also, Genesis is just a straight-up long book.
1:08.0	It's got 50 chapters, but the chapters, of course, they're added after the fact.
1:12.0	If you really want to know which books of the Bible are the longest, you've got to look
1:15.0	at the original Hebrew word count, and it looks like Genesis.
1:18.6	I did not know this.
1:19.6	It surprised me.
1:20.6	It comes up second in the whole Bible behind only Jeremiah.
