This is a photo of part of the campus of Emory University in Atlanta.

How would you describe this?

Oh.

Oh. Oh. Oh. It's a bench on top of a grave. It definitely looks like a gravestone. And it's a little hard to see in this photo, but it's actually quite oversized. It's about four feet tall, so it kind of comes up to like shoulder torso height on an adult. But even though it is a tombstone, it's not for a specific

This monument has been erected 1963 by the Gravity Research Foundation.

It is to remind students of the blessings forthcoming when science determines what gravity is and how it works and how it may be controlled.

Okay. So is this a marker for a foundation that wanted to do something to control gravity?

Yes, exactly. It's basically a tombstone for gravity.

And it was put up by this pretty eccentric businessman who became obsessed with the idea of trying to stop gravity in its tracks,

try to control gravity in any way that he could.
