Summary

On today's episode I'm chatting with Beverley Cheng. Beverley is a fitness expert and the Founder of Born To Sweat, a fitness blog and brand. While so many people have blogs, Beverley is an example of someone who successfully turned her blog into a business, starting with e-books and workout classes and evolving into week-long fitness retreats.

We talk about how Beverley got into the fitness industry and turned her passion into a business. While Beverley is a fitness expert, she’s also a very strong and smart entrepreneur, so I wanted to focus our conversation how she managed to take her social media and turn it into a successful brand. We talk about how to enter the fitness blogging space, tangible tips for going viral, tips for releasing an e-book, how she planned and marketed her retreat (it sold out), Pinterest for business and so much more. And we also get into fitness tips like what to do if you’re a beginner, 3 tips for shaping up, and promoting a life of balance. Whether you’re looking to get into blogging or wanting to turn your social media business into a brand, this is one episode you shouldn’t miss!

Hey guys and welcome back to the Dream Bigger podcast. I'm your host SIF and I'm the founder of

0:16.3

icing and glitter, which is a blog, Instagram page, and YouTube channel. If you've been tuning into the podcast for a while now, you'll know that I release an

0:24.4

episode every Monday, but missed the last two weeks.

0:27.7

And the reason is because I'm currently recovering from pretty severe burnout.

0:33.1

So I'd traveled to Italy for a week, which was absolutely incredible.

0:36.7

But when I came back, I did not

0:38.5

feel like myself at all. I felt really down and was completely unable to produce any creative work.

0:44.2

I felt like my brain had suddenly turned into jello.

0:47.4

Anyway, for a few days, I didn't even know what was wrong with me at all, so I tried to continue

0:51.8

working at my regular pace. And then I finally had a full

0:56.1

blown meltdown. Like guys, I'm talking ugly cry, blubbering on the couch. So it wasn't until then

1:04.2

that I realized I was dealing with burnout and that I really needed to take a step back from my

1:08.6

work and focus on my mental well-being.

1:15.7

Anyway, that was about two weeks ago, and while I'm definitely not at my 100% yet, I'm on the mend. I've started recording podcast interviews again so you can expect regularly scheduled

1:20.3

programming. So now that I've gotten this whole bit out of the way, let's talk about today's

1:24.2

guest, Beverly Cheng. Beverly is the founder of Born to Sweat, a fitness

1:28.9

blog which evolved into a brand. She's one of the savviest entrepreneurs I've spoken to and is an

1:34.0

example of someone who has successfully expanded their social media business into a full-blown brand.

1:39.6

While Beverly is a fitness expert, I really wanted to pick her brain on the business side of things.

1:44.0

I think you guys are going to learn a ton from her. She has a ton of actionable steps for anyone

1:49.7

who's looking to get into the social media world or expand outside of it. But before we get

1:55.0

into my conversation with Beverly, I wanted to please remind you to leave the show a review
