Stephen Carter did just a masterful job last week.

And I appreciated the reminder from him that waiting is not passive, that to wait on the Lord

is to set your hope on the Lord.

I think waiting in a time of transition is a challenging time because we're sitting ducks

for cynicism, despair, or even abandonment of our faith.

So I'd like for us to linger on this thought about waiting on the Lord.

Many of you are waiting.

Maybe all of you are waiting.

Personally, you're waiting.

You're waiting on good news.

You're waiting on a breakthrough. You're waiting on a breakthrough.

You're waiting on a development. As a congregation, we're waiting. We're waiting on the next chapter.

We've been praying and we're waiting. We're in a hurry. We don't like to wait.

But waiting matters. It matters. And the person that we, whose story

we're going to ponder this weekend, I think has some wonderful counsel when it comes to waiting

on God, the title of the message between offered prayer and answered prayer. Speaking of

prayer, I've asked the lead pastor of our church in San Antonio to pray a blessing over this
