that really fits the nature of the College of Islamic Studies

and what we seek to do being a bridge between

both Western academia and academic models

within the Islamic world so that we can

through the Western academic model still affect

modes of teaching that preserve and perpetuate

classical Islamic epistemologies

and so that the institutions that we have,

though they may be in the modern form,

have the substance which is inherent

to the classical tradition from the time of the Prophet

Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Now, the person that we have with us,

our guest today is one of the few people who really

has the ability to fully address this issue.
