Good evening from New York. I'm Chris Hayes. We are under 50 days from the Iowa

Caucus. We're Republican primary voters. We'll have their first shot to choose

a presidential nominee. The last time that most of the country went to the

polls,

with big sort of national election,

the 22 midterm elections a little over a year ago.

And as you might remember, Republicans delivered a pretty shocking

underperformance in those elections.

And it was an underperformance that was particularly pronounced

among the Trump-aligned candidates.
