Part two of today's show is going to look at one of my favorite topics,

which is sort of, and I've called it different things at different times,

you know, senior step up or last chance you type of thing.

But essentially at the heart of it is, it's players that have either not

been rotation guys that are going to become good rotation guys, veteran players that are that are

looking to have more prominent roles or veterans that if they're going to reach their full

potential, they need this veteran to step up and play better football,

his best football, whatever the case may be. So, you know, when I look at a guy like Howard

Cross, I'm not talking about Howard Cross being a guy this year. I'm not so much looking at younger

players who may be breakouts. I'm not talking today about transfers.

We'll have specific shows looking at expectations for the transfers.

What I'm talking about is going back and saying,

who are the veterans that are going to be in key roles that if they don't play well, it's going to hurt the off, hurt the team.

Or in another situation, it could be they are players who if they

like receiver i'll talk about if they step up it makes that unit even better even if they're

going to be okay without them if they step up that's how they maximize their potential and there's

a reason this is important.

It's, look, you're going to have young guys step up. You're going to have transfer step up.

There's going to be all types of different players that emerge and you need all of them.

There's no one path to success. But when you look at Notre Dame's team over the years, and you look at just last six seasons, for example, and I brought back up 1988, I mean, we could have a discussion.

Some of the folks that are even older than me could talk about guys that really stepped up and had big final seasons that were maybe good players in the past.

You know, Andy Heck was a solid player from all accounts, played tight in.
