Can't Be the Goal with Alice and Levine. This is one of our favorite stories of resilience

and endurance from a true adventurer. And we had a lot of fun

telling the story of Ernest Shackleton's voyage as an unexpected historical precursor to

Allison's modern-day adventuring. The title refers to something Allison says in the episode,

that the summit can't be the goal, because if you give everything you have to make it to the top,

you may die up there. Her journey leading the first women's expedition to climb Mount Everest

met with failure the first time around. But the judgments and criticisms and ridicule didn't

stop her. It only lit her fire even more.
