Victor Wambayama's the new cover boy, the NBA 2K 27. He's very excited about it, of course.

He was makes the media rounds earlier on Wednesday. One of the ones he spoke with was the athletic. And of course, they asked about the game. But one thing they also asked them about was, hey, man, you famously took a $50 million haircut to re-up with Spurs. What was the reasoning behind that one? He told the athletic, quote, the reality of today's NBA is that often the potential of teams is not fulfilled because of money.

And I just want to make sure it's never our case.

And it's interesting about that is Adam Silver said himself last week that, hey, this second

April is working exactly the way we want to.

And if guys got to take less, you paraphrasing here, then that is what it is

because this is what we want in today's NBA. He wants that reality that requires some kind

of sacrifice. It ain't what we want it. Rob G. It's not what we basketball fans want it. It's not

what we asked for. And if you look at we, the fan of any decade over the last 40, 50 years, we typically

have enjoyed what the product has given us. And if you want to go back to what saved the NBA,

where we had Magic and Bird and the Lakers and Celtics and rivalries there and competing,

even within their own divisions, you had the 76ers and the Celtics. Then you had the Pistons and the Celtics with their own conference going at it. Like you had these battles where you saw teams have to earn it. Rob, they had to go through it. You know that. You were, you know, covering NBA then. Teams had to go through it. They had to fight two or three years to beat the team. The pistons to the Celtics, the bulls to the piston, so on and so forth. Then you got to ultimately a few finals appearances with the Lakers and Celtics. Then you get to the 90s where Michael Jordan is the absolute best player on the planet, and we got to see the best player in the finals six years out of the, you know, 10 in that decade. And we got to see these things. You got to grow at players. Players stuck with each other for a while. I'm not saying you got to play your whole career together, but you got to see Pip and Mike for a long time. You got to see Joe and Isaiah for a long time and Bird and McHale. And you got to grow with them. And you felt connected to the game. So you got the rivals within the conferences and in the finals.

You got the familiarity with the players themselves.

You got storylines, beefs, and drama.

And when I really start to look at this, Rob Parker, the 2020s have been some of the

most boring and forgettable times in the NBA in that you're getting these
