It's the media buzz meter with Howard Kurtz.

This is the oldest game in Washington.

You got it as high official and suddenly there start to be a couple of negative stories.

Maybe there's a little bit of a scandal, maybe the person under fire screws up a little bit. Maybe there's a series

of controversies. And then you start to see stories in the press that say Rocky tenure. Then maybe

gets a little worse. And now you start reading in the media, which, you know, everything media

reports is accurate. So you know you can believe it. Well, so-and-so is in trouble. And the president, and this goes on in every governor's office, it goes on in every mayor's office, is losing confidence in this person. And in the last couple of days, and I haven't indulged in the speculation, because I think it's mostly speculation, but they've been, you know, what happens is they audition your job in the press.

And they start saying, well, you know, I think this person may be gone by early next year

and you know who would be a good replacement either this person or this other person.

And in this case, I'm talking about Christy Noem.

Story number one, Homeland Security Secretary, former governor.

And it's not that she hasn't made any mistakes.

She certainly is high profile.

She's on the front lines of the very controversial war on illegal immigration.

She likes being in front of the cameras. Some of the

deportations have not gone well. Just read a story the other day that they're getting their own

fleet of planes to deport illegal immigrants. And so naturally, there's a lot of chatter about her.

So Trump's at the White House yesterday,

and he had open-ended question,

Mr. President, the press focuses lately

on one of your cabinet members,

predicting that you're going to fire one,
