This is a time in sports where things are quiet for the most part, but the Jets decided to pipe in and say, hey, quiet off-season my ass.

We're going to show you something and we're going to give you something during this week where nothing is going on and take some headlines away.

And I remember talking to Boomer about

not Garrett Wilson, but Sauce Gardner talking about wanting a new contract this year. And

Garrett Wilson in the same boat as Sauce Gardner, but I hadn't heard him say anything publicly

about it. And we said, well, you know, the Jets don't have to do it. You know, and if they end up

doing it, these guys are going to have to take less money than they would if they just waited another year and had another successful season.

But here we go.

It's actually unprecedented.

And what the Jets did with Garrett Wilson, it is the first player to get an average $30 million per year after only being in the league for three seasons. So quiet offseason no more for Darren Mugi, Aaron Glenn, Garrett Wilson, and the New York Jets. Good morning, Boomer. How are you? Yeah, good morning, Jay. Yeah, unprecedented for sure. And when I heard about this yesterday, I was thinking, wow, you know, the Jets are resetting the market for a lot of other players around the league, much like Deshaun Watson did. And I'm wondering if there's, you know, owners and GMs out there sending emails to each other colluding with each other, wondering whether or not the Jets did what they did here was smart. Now, for their own team internally, it is smart. You want to keep your best players and certainly this validates the fact that

they were picked and they were picked by Joe Douglas and they are being paid to be top

and players which they have been. And when you think about Garrett Wilson, you know, he's played

with eight different quarterbacks. It's been really, really frustrating for him, I'm sure.

And part of that frustration is that they can't seem to get it right.

So they bring in a former teammate of his of Justin Fields.

Nobody knows Justin better than, you know, Garrett Wilson does.

And I'm sure that, you know, this type of contract basically says to Garrett Wilson, look, we need you to be a leader.

We want you to be a part of this team for the next five years.

And we also want you to be happy.

And we want you to be productive because, you know, his productivity over three years can not be denied.

I mean, especially with the quarterback play that he had to deal with most of them.
