Hi it's Mike, it's Mike. It's Saturday, it's the Saturday show. Every week on Saturday we take one from the week and one from the vaults,

pair them together and give them to you. This week, I did a rather long spiel about the travails of

podcasting, specifically public radio podcasting, W.B.Z. The big station in Chicago. Cut staff, canceled

podcasts. This has been a trend. It's happened in Colorado, it's happened in New York,

it happened with the NPR itself. And then there are similar things happening at WAMU and the

listening has been decimated a a listening has been decimated a 30% drop-off

from pre-pandemic numbers.

So in my spiel, talked about that and I tried to

puzzle out why and I perhaps alone among people with a stake or a former stake in

public radio offered the premise that it was the programming. It wasn't just the

programming. They were cross currents and headwinds, but the programming has and had a lot

to do with why listeners are no longer tuning into public radio as much as they had.
