One thing that I have noticed in the last, oh, 72 to 96 hours, and I think we kind of anticipated

this, there is no doubt about the fact that Indiana athletically right now, their department

is pushing all in on promoting Fernando Mendoza for the Heisman.

As they should, as I'd mentioned, Indiana, of course, has never had a Heisman trophy winner.

Anthony Thompson should have won it in 1989. Andre Weir ended up taking it that year. I'm not, and he had a fabulous year at Houston. Don't get me wrong. But I still wake up in a cold sweat over the thought that Anthony Thompson should have won that. But nonetheless, I digress. But Indiana and a biweek, that's not to say there's not still plenty to talk about in college football from a local standpoint.

Joining us now on the Java House, Peelempour guest line. You see her work with NBC and Peacock. Nicole Auerbach joining the program to talk a little college football.

Nicole, happy weekend. How are you? I'm good. Cannot believe. Only two weeks left of the regular season. I know only one game left for you guys, but wild, how fast this season has flown.

You know, I say this every year, Nicole, like in about when football first starts getting underway and everybody gets super excited for training camps and all that kind of stuff, and I always say, just be careful what you wish for, because then you snap your fingers, and before you know it, it's 38 and raining outside, right?

I mean, because the year goes that fast, the football season, did you anticipate that at this

point with just one regular season left to go?

Like, at what point did you realize that Indiana could still have themselves right here

in the thick of this mix?

Well, I mean, the fact that they're undefeated, I think that that after the Oregon game

was when I was like, all right, like this is very much in front of them.

And, you know, it's pretty remarkable.

You know, coming into the year, I didn't think there would be a huge drop-off from last year's

but in my mind that meant, okay, so maybe like a nine-win team, right? You know, maybe, you know, we're not talking playoff, but like this is a new level of expectation and the floor is so much higher for Indiana football. So certainly did not, like, coming into the year, expect that we would be talking about, you know, an 11-0 team that's number two in the college football playoff rankings.

And we're all just normal about it.

We're used to that.

Like, you know, there's not the arguing in the lightning rod aspect of this like there was last year.

So it's crazy how quickly that happened that, that like we just got used to the idea that,

yeah, okay, yeah, Indiana is one of the best teams in the country.
