National signing day is not a thing anymore, but for all of you out there that feel like Christmas morning arrives every single year with the college football recruiting classes.

We now have an early signing day and we have a later signing period, but this is when like 80% of the top players in the nation are going to sign.

And the storyline coming out of Wednesday signing day is the rich.

Well, they got a lot richer.

I mean, it was an incredible haul of talent if you look at the recruiting class rankings and by the way, we're going to talk with Dan Wetzel in the program today because he thought broke it down pretty well for rivals.

The impact and importance of signing top recruiting classes is growing in one of the things that he wrote in his in his column, which I thought was really entertaining.

At Yahoo Sports is he believes the playoff has created even more of an incentive for players to go and to sign with the elite level schools out there.

So if you go look, for instance, the playoff schools, obviously, over time, have been who Clemson Alabama Ohio State LSU Georgia.

Boom, that's basically your top five in the college football rankings.

Clemson Alabama Ohio State LSU Georgia, roughly your top five Texas A&M with a solid day as Jim Bofischer is trying to build up his overall talent.

Auburn seems to recruit pretty well Florida, not a surprise.

The Southern schools doing well.

Texas Oklahoma, big 12 brands do well.

Then you got a couple of the second tier, I would say, after Ohio State top level recruiters, big 10 with Michigan and Penn State.

Notre Dame has done, I think, surprisingly well under Brian Kelly and recruiting in general.

And then Washington and Oregon doing decent Tennessee, South Carolina, as you kind of run through the list, Miami, a lot of the usual suspects in, you know, the top 20 ish in the recruiting rankings.
