This is a pretty interesting, I think, as we start off the Wednesday show last night

in between the college basketball games, which many of you may have been watching, the

college football playoff rankings came out.

Now what I've always thought about the college football playoff rankings is there's a lot

of attention given to the committee, but effectively all they're doing is producing

a new poll.

That is, they just vote for who they think is the best out there, and it's not that much

different than what the AP poll is doing or what the coaches have been doing in their

poll.

They just sit around and vote.

And the difference is, I believe there's only 13 members on the college football playoff

committee.

So they, whereas you could get, you know, you have like over 50, I think in the AP

poll, I think you got like over 50 coaches.

Every individual vote matters less in the AP and in the coaches poll, then they matter

in this college football playoff committee.

And given the fact that they sit around and debate, unlike everybody else, it kind of gives

you an idea that you can end up with groupthink.

I think groupthink is typically not that helpful because it can end up wrong.

And I think that's what's happening at the top of the playoff committee.

But right now, look, Alabama's number one, that's not a surprise.
