Today's episode is one bite of the elephant at a time. And it is a difficult one. It's intense. It's one of our most intense episodes. Also an episode that I'm really proud of. I remember when it first came out, many people reached out to me to say, holy shit, that was incredible and brave. And oh, my God, how did you do that?

And it's a morally complicated episode that deals with a certain type of hypothetical crime

and the fallout from trying to deal with that crime, not just on the potential perpetrator,

but on the family around them.

It's a nightmare, and it doesn't end. It's a nightmare.

And it doesn't end. It doesn't stop.

Every night I wake up three, four, five, six, eight times a night.

First thing that's on my mind is Brian, my son, and what we're going through.

At nighttime, I'll be laying in bed and I'll hear Joanne crying in the middle of the night, sobbing.

What do you do? How do you turn over to your wife, the mother of your child, suffering the way she is?

Putting your arms around her, that doesn't help.

I used to love spring.

I get up in the morning, I put on the radio,
