Summary
It's round about the time to start putting away the Christmas decor.
Some feel their homes look bare now, while others love the clean slate, and minimalist look that January brings.
No matter which side of the fence you sit on, we're talking about things you can do to transition your home from the holidays to a winter look.
Greenery, pine cones, cozy touches & metallics work well all thru the winter season.

| 0:00.0 | Hey, everyone. Welcome. It's Decorating Tips and Tricks, the podcast. I am here with |
| 0:13.0 | Nita Joyce, and I'm Kelly Wilfness. And today is episode 294, freshening up post the holidays. Putting it away and giving you some tips on |
| 0:26.5 | how to look forward into 2019. You know, I think this is really sad for a lot of people. |
| 0:33.3 | And it used to really make me sad putting away the Christmas things. |
| 0:39.2 | You know, you've had fun over the holidays. |
| 0:40.4 | Your family was there. |
| 0:44.2 | And it feels like all the fun is over sometimes when you put all that up. |
| 0:46.0 | Yeah. |
| 0:49.9 | And the rooms feel a little empty when it's all gone. |
| 0:56.1 | If, in fact, you've put up a lot of things, it, you know, definitely thinks, you know, you got a big hole in the room where the tree was and all of that. But I, I kind of like putting everything. |
| 1:04.4 | I love the clean slate of it all. Well, I love it too. But I'll tell you when that changed was when I really got my house to where I really love it. But when I didn't really love the way my house looked, I would put the Christmas decor up and I would be so focused on the Christmas decor and made my house look so warm and cozy. I would put it up and I felt it just looks dark and unfriendly. and I just did not like the look at all. |
| 1:29.6 | So I think part of what I want to say about this post-Christmas look is that to think about |
| 1:37.9 | really investing in some beautiful pieces for your home so that when you do put the Christmas |
| 1:43.3 | stuff away, you don't miss it so much. |
| 1:45.7 | I mean, I think it, I really want to put the idea out there that this is why you really want to |
| 1:50.6 | invest in some beautiful pieces for your home so that when the Christmas things are put away, |
| 1:55.1 | you can really enjoy those beautiful things that you've added to your home and appreciate them because they're going to be |
| 2:01.9 | shining now. So I think that part of that just has to do with having a home that you love, |
| 2:08.8 | even when the Christmas stuff is put away. Yeah, you know, that's a really good point. |
| 2:14.5 | And I never really thought about it that way because maybe it isn't so much |
| 2:17.6 | that you're missing the Christmas decor. You might not just be happy with what is left behind |
| 2:23.4 | when it's gone. Yeah. That's something to definitely think about. And I do also think it's, |
