Summary

By the end of January, most of us have realized the truth: our resolutions didn’t fail—we just never needed them. Instead of trying to fix ourselves (again), this conversation invites us to do something braver: get curious about who we already are underneath all the shoulds. Artist and designer Justina Blakeney helps us tune into what she calls “the tingle”—that quiet spark of delight, curiosity, and aliveness that knows exactly where we’re meant to go. When we trust what delights us, we don’t just decorate our homes—we redecorate our lives. For the good of the realm. - How to stop fixing yourself and start trusting what feels alive and true- Why delight, creativity, and “the tingle” are clues—not indulgences - How following what’s good for you becomes good for your family, your work, and the world About Justina:  Justina Blakeney is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and New York Times Bestselling Author. She is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of the home décor brand, Jungalow® and the author of several design books including Jungalow; Decorate Wild! and The New Bohemians book series. Justina lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Jason, their kiddo, Ida, her kitties, Juju and Nova, and 52 houseplants. Hello, Pod Squad. Welcome back to We Can Do Hard Things. This is the last week of January

0:07.5

settling into a new year. And I think by the last week of January, we have all realized that every

0:16.4

one of our resolutions were bullshit and that we were in fact never going to do any of those and we

0:24.5

might begin to wonder why we resolved to resolve only to be defeated by ourselves by the third

0:31.9

week. So if that is you, welcome back. We too are with you on the journey. So instead of resolving to change ourselves, because

0:44.4

that has worked exactly zero times, why don't we resolve to not change ourselves and just get to know who the hell we are underneath all that we desire to

1:01.9

change. So here's the deal. Getting back to who we are, which is where we were always going in the

1:08.3

first place. Let's start there. Okay.

1:11.3

And one way to get to know who we actually are, if we are brave enough to trust it,

1:18.3

is to trust our delight.

1:21.0

That is a big clue to us.

1:23.9

The thing that taps and makes us feel like maybe that was like a little tiny baby

1:29.8

itch of curiosity, of creativity, of delight, of what our guest today, the remarkable,

1:39.9

delightful Justina Blakeney calls the tingle.

1:44.4

When we have lost such touch with ourselves that we're not real sure how to get back in,

1:51.5

the tingle is a great clue for us.

1:55.4

Okay?

1:55.8

So we want to get closer to our wild.

1:58.2

We want to sense our tingle.

1:59.6

We want to trust it because our tingle

2:02.3

tells us what we desire, what we want, what we love, and those are the things incidentally

2:10.0

that we will be very good at. Justina talks about her design life, her creativity, her home as an extension of herself.
