Today's conversation, Why the Modern Mail is Struggling with Richard Reeves, originally aired in June and was one of our most popular episodes of the whole year.

Richard Reeves is a senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institute and leads the Boys and Men Project.

His research focuses on boys, men, inequality, in

social mobility. In 2022 he published his book of Boys and Men, Why the Modern

Mail is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do About It.

2023 has been called The Year of the Girl.

We've talked on this podcast about Barbie, the Taylor Swift era's tour,

and Beyonce's Renaissance.

And I'm not even scratching the surface of the women in art, music, and politics that

have had a truly incredible year. But when I look through my life, I see two distinct eras. I have three siblings who are all girls. I have two

daughters. I grew up with a beautiful community of ants, bonus moms, strong women in my life, and a wonderful father who

supported my mom's career and showed up for me by taking me to school, fixing lunches, putting up ponytails, coaching soccer teams,

and helping me believe that I could be whatever I wanted to in my life.
