The Cold War was a very funny period of a history,

and for some reason, with global events at the moment moment it seems to be getting closer rather than further away.

There are all sorts of installations dotted about the countryside which to be honest nine times out of ten you would have no idea they were there at all.

Ten years ago the guard and bunkhouse of what was a Cold War Raiders station

was bought by an architectural historian and designer called Harry Fleming. Now, to say this

station is a fascinating place is a complete understatement and what Harry's doing with it is

absolutely intriguing. He very kindly showed me round.

So welcome to what used to be RAF in Verbervie and is now the Burvey Brough Research Station.

So we're standing right on the top of Burvey Brow which actually is one of the highest coastal hills

in this stretch of northeast Scotland.

We're looking out over the sea.
