matchroom bubble ahead of this weekend's fight night from the SSE Wembley

Arena. Connor Ben makes a real step up in class against German Sebastian Formella who lasted

the full 12 rounds against Sean Porter last August in what is his only career defeat

in 23 fights. For Ben the return to the ring is a welcome

one after dates and opponents have proved difficult to come by in the midst of a

global pandemic. I chatted to a clearly emotional Connor who spoke from the

heart about the sacrifices he's had to make. It's been a year now so it feels like a

long time but I've been working I've been grafting throughout this time.

Yeah, I saw some quotes, it obviously gives you a chance to rest the body,

but it also gives you a chance to get in the gym and work on things, genuine time with your coach Tony Sims.

Have you just used that time just to try and get better?

Just become a better all around a fighter?

Of course I mean I'm always learning and every time I've had a long life I've come back better

or showed improvement

in different aspects of my ability so

it's just all growing man and you know if I could use this time wisely to

help myself why am I not going to do that I'd be silly not to do that. It's about

closing the gap on these other athletes who have had loads of amateur fights who are,

you know, 30-31 years old and got bundles of experience. I'm want to close that gap and use this time wisely

when I know other people ain't been.
