0:31.0

And we are joined by a very special guest, someone who actually, we've been trying to get on the podcast for quite a while, but you know, fun and fun.

0:40.5

He's a busy man, we're busy people, but here he is, who have we got Jim? Well, I have to say I am particularly extra excited today because I'm a massive fan.

0:52.5

And our guest today is a screenwriter, he's an actor, he's the star of horrible histories, but also particularly, this is what getting me excited.

1:04.5

He's one of the writers and stars of Ghosts, which I have to say he's literally my favourite ever sitcom.

1:10.5

I love this show, I love it and in it. I also loved in episode one, he had me very, very early on when there's two Ghosts Luftwaffe pilots hanging outside a window.

1:23.5

And I'm assuming that was your touch Ben, but, but welcome and thank you for coming on. Oh, it's an absolute pleasure. I honestly, I remember discovering your fabulous podcast about two years ago.

1:38.5

It was this time of year, it was Christmas and I was working away in the kitchen and I just thought, I need, I need a good pod, and I just, I knew, I knew that Al was doing, I knew that you were doing it.

1:49.5

And I thought, oh no, give it a go. And I was hooked, absolutely hooked. It's such a treat to put on and dive into it really is.

2:06.5

Well, you're suddenly becoming my favourite ever guest as well.

2:09.5

Ben, it's fair to say you kind of had a similar indoctrination on the subject as I did, right? My father, you know, the Colonel, sort of, I had written no choice but to be sort of tracked or beamed into being interested in the second world war.

2:23.5

Yeah, I think you're probably the same aren't you?

2:25.5

I very much so yeah, it's really funny is that when we were at your festival in the summer and you said, oh, the Colonel's here. I go, oh great, the group captains here as well.

2:34.5

So my dad, my dad, the group captain, yes, he served for a lot, you know, a long time and obviously my childhood was military.

2:50.5

It was all about military and by extension really, the second world war.

2:55.5

And I was thinking about this earlier, just thinking about dates and how close, obviously my dad was born in 46. So, you know, he's one of the immediate post war generation.

3:08.5

And then, you know, he was reminding me about rationing. He still remembers the rationing in the 50s and all that.

3:15.5

And I come along and of course, I'm, you know, we're still only like, you know, talking 30, 40 years from the end of the second world war. So it's a, and during my childhood and, you know, at school, we were all for boys anyway.
