Hello and welcome to Under the Skin from Loomering. This week I spoke with Ben Shapiro.

Ben Shapiro is a US Conservative political commentator who presents a daily current fair

show called the Ben Shapiro show on YouTube. His new book, The Authoritarian Moment, will

be released on July 27th. Like Ben Shapiro, I guess from, you know, like how I imagine

the audience of the Loomering Under the Skin to be. Like Ben Shapiro is pretty outspoken

and he's conservative. I went on his show and I found I've got a lot of things value-wise

in common. But when it comes to the sort of cultural beliefs, I think we've got a lot

of things that we perhaps disagree with. And so if you're not comfortable listening to

people that you disagree with, then life's going to be tough, but like I said, but secondly,

for example, he speaks for a long while around Israel. And my suspicion is a lot of people

will find what he says about Israel at odds with what they believe. And my personal perspective

is, as I've sort of said before publicly, that I respect people's rights to communicate.

And I think it's important now more than ever for people with different views to communicate

openly and for us to find territories that we have in common. That said, my intention

in this podcast with Ben was to understand him not to, you know, it would have been rather

presumptuous, I think, for someone as well versed as he is and as deeply committed to

his beliefs, as someone who's committed his beliefs, to their beliefs as dear Ben, to

think that I was going to undertake a mission. If you want to hear me on his show, I speak

a lot more openly about my perspective and he very respectfully gave me the floor and
