Well, folks, last week I went to University of Cambridge over in the UK to talk about what's going on in the Middle East and the decline of Western values.

Last week, this university's Opera Society announced that it would be canceling a performance

of George Frederick Handel's Saul.

That opera, of course, tells the biblical story of King Saul, the first king of the Jews and his

conflict with the soon-to-be King David.

So why precisely was this performance of this great work of art canceled?

Max Mason, director of the show, explained,

quote, given the parallels of this conflict,

the production team made the difficult decision to cancel Saul.

We came to the unanimous conclusion

So what exactly were those striking parallels?

In the opera, David kills Goliath a Philistine. The Jew wins, the Philistine loses. This is apparently in some way offensive. Offensive perhaps to those who sympathize with those who slaughter babies in their cribs and rape and kidnap women en masse who shoot Holocaust survivors in the head and bind together parents and children before burning them alive. It is no coincidence that the statement from the Cambridge Opera Society avoided all mention of Hamas in describing the quote unfolding a situation in Gaza.
