Carlos Beltron was a part of a very disappointing era in the history of the Mets, and it's not his

fault. Unfortunately, he's known for one at bat, which I don't think defines him because he was

an incredibly clutch player while he was here. I argued that my entire tenure here at WFAN with people

including Joe who didn't think he was clutch. He was always clutch. He was just unfairly

defined by one at bat.

But what the truth is, is I think part of the reason why Met fans haven't fully embraced Carlos is because he was one of the main faces of an era that just ended disappointedly.

They only had one playoff berth. They lost to a team they should have beaten. They had a collapse

in 07, pseudo collapse in 08, and the potential just was never fulfilled.

So he deserves the Hall of Fame.

If you look at his career, he should wear a MET hat.

It's just there's something missing.

And it sucks because I loved Carlos as a player.

Yeah.

No, he seems like he's one of those

guys who circumstantially was looked at as not the winner that he could have been instead of

the great player, leader, locker room player that he actually was. And wasn't C.C. with him.

No, so C.C. was with Andrew Jones at Albert Poohole's celebrity golf outing where it was a bunch of players. And they went nuts for Andrew Jones. Andrew's a good dude. Andrew's a good dude. I'll say this about Andrew. I don't know Andrew Jones. And as a fan, I hated him from a sports perspective. Of course. But I have said this before and I'll say it again, you could take you Ken Griffey Jr.

You could take you Jim Edmonds.

Andrew Jones is the greatest defensive centerfielder I have ever laid eyes on.

Period.

There's nothing better, whether it's how shallow he played and how he went back on balls better than any human I've ever seen.

Whether it's the ridiculous army had in center field. I don't mean this as any disrespect to Griffey Jr. He's one of the great players of all time. Same thing with Jim Edmonds as a defender. Andrew Jones is the greatest defensive center fielder of all time, and it was an abomination that he wasn't in the Hall of Fame. So I say that as someone who hated him out of respect, he absolutely deserves it. Yeah. I mean, he is like you put it in a machine and say be a defensive center fielder. It's that guy. So good for him. He was an elite athlete. Oh. He's a super, super athlete. Yeah. And that you can see it. I always used to watch baseball when I was younger.
