No indictment was handed down, though it doesn't seem like they really expected to get one.

They were using the process to get witnesses on the record before memories faded,

and while they still continued to investigate.

There was some physical evidence that had been sent out to the FBI lab for testing, but this evidence

So the authorities in Texas basically had no choice but to just take a number and wait. They were also hoping they would

uncover a key piece of evidence they were missing and that was the murder
