As we read the gospel records, we read eyewitness accounts of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus.

In a sense, the gospels are just the beginning of Christ's work. The adventure continues in the

Book of Acts. In this study with

Scott Pauli, we consider the continuing work of Christ through the Holy Spirit, who works

through the apostles in the New Testament Church. Now, let's get in on the adventure.

When we come to Acts chapter number one,

I think the temptation for all of us

is to make a beeline for Acts chapter one

and verse number eight,

and especially the last part of the verse,

where we're going to be witnesses,

and we're going to get to Jerusalem and Judea

and Samaria and the

uttermost. And we want to emphasize our activity, our work, our labor. But please don't miss the

context of Acts chapter number one, because the adventure continues not through what we can accomplish,

but rather through what Christ is accomplishing in

and through his people. That's why the Lord's first word to the disciples, the great command

here on the verge of the ascension, was not due. It was wait. Yes, they were going to go. Yes,

they were going to preach. Yes, they were going to labor, but first they to preach yes they were going to labor but first they had to
