1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Every New Year, many of us hang a new calendar on the wall. On this blank calendar, we make our plans and write down what we think might happen. No one, however, really knows what the future holds. One future event is certain: Christ’s return. Listen as Pastor Chuck Swindoll opens God’s calendar of the future. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, God unveils details about the resurrection, the rapture, and our reunion with loved ones who have died. We don’t know when Christ will come back, but we know He will. 0:14.0	We're so thankful you've joined us on this Christmas Day as we celebrate the birth of our Savior together.
0:20.3	December 25th marks the day when God became flesh
0:23.4	and dwelt among us. But Chuck Swindall invites us to look ahead to another glorious moment,
0:28.9	when Christ returns for his own. Because Jesus arrived at Christmas and because he's coming again,
0:35.5	believers possess an unshakable hope that transcends every fear.
0:40.3	In fact, the gospel transforms our view of both living and dying.
0:49.3	One of the blessings of being a minister of the gospel is that I get the privilege of facing death regularly with people.
1:02.0	It's a wonderful reminder of the brevity of life. I do not know what my life will be like tomorrow.

1:18.0	Look at the reminder, verse 15.
1:20.7	Instead, meaning instead of saying that,
1:26.3	we ought to say if the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.
1:39.1	If the Lord wills, we'll still be alive when we turn the last day of December of this next year.
1:48.8	That may not be as well.
1:52.1	You see, it was that issue that troubled the people of Thessalonica.
1:58.3	They were concerned about the loved ones, family members, and friends who knew the Lord but died.
2:08.7	Are they going to miss their reward?
2:12.4	What kind of future do they have?
2:15.5	Will the Lord remember them?
2:19.5	Turn from James 4 back to First Thessalonians 4 where that question and others are answered
