Summary

As we finish our week on Light, today we’ll explore our calling to be the light. What’s beautiful about this call is that the pressure is off. We have so many misconceptions about what God requires of us, and he is not the task master we so often mistake him for. May you be encouraged today to live out your calling as the light of the world, free from the weight of the world.

Our Scripture for today comes from Matthew 5:14. Today's worship is The Jesus Way by Phil Wickham.

Thanks so much for listening to today’s podcast, the last in our week-long focus on light.

Tomorrow we begin a brand new series on Trust. Like all relationships, our relationship with God has to be founded on trust. And luckily, we can trust our heavenly father wholeheartedly because he is always good, always able, and always faithful. I truly believe this next series will guide you into a depth of relationship you have yet to experience as we reestablish our relationships with God through the avenue of trust.

Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.

Why he and his perfect wisdom has chosen to use us baffles me.

But his desire to co-labor with us is the truth of Scripture. God has called

us to be the light shining into the darkness of others' lives and love. Jesus said it this

way, Matthew 514 through 16. You are the light of the world. A city set on the hill cannot

1:09.8

be hidden, nor do people light a lamp

1:12.3

and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same

1:18.9

way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory

1:24.1

to your father who is in heaven. For a long time, I considered myself incapable of giving light to all in the house.

1:32.4

I know my weakness all too well.

1:34.7

I see the darkness in my life.

1:37.2

How can I give light to anyone?

1:39.6

You see, I thought the light I was supposed to give was the light of my own perfection.

1:44.6

I thought I needed to get my life sorted out before I could ever minister to someone else.

1:50.1

And out of that misconception, I failed to experience the abundant life that comes from being used by God.

1:56.3

The truth of Scripture is that God is not calling us to minister out of our perfection.

2:01.7

He isn't calling us to figure everything out before we can be used.

2:06.0

The most powerful declaration we can make to those in darkness is that we who are in desperate

2:12.6

need have been met by a perfectly loving Savior.
