Beyond being a great golfer and teacher, Tony Manzoni had so much more to his life than the game. In this conversation we get into an interesting discussion of what it’s like to live in the shadow of a high profile father, then pursuing a career choice in the same field. Examples discussed include Steph Curry and Frank Sinatra Jr. We then continue to discuss taking your game to the next level one club at a time. The focus of the conversation is how many situations require wedges. Tony’s book, The Lost Fundamental, One Simple Move, Better Golf Forever, which was out of print when he passed away, is once again available on Amazon including Kindle format https://www.amazon.com/Lost-Fundamental-Simple-Better-Forever-ebook/dp/B07MZFSPBW/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Tony+Manzoni&qid=1614728823&sr=8-1 . Tony’s video of the same name was also out of circulation, but can now be seen online. If you’d like to gain access please write to us directly via email GolfSmarterPodcast@Gmail.com. Lastly, after he passed, we created a Tony Manzoni Memorial Golf Smarter Fund to benefit the First Tee of Coachella Valley. Your tax deductible contributions are greatly appreciated. One part of my game has benefited the most from caddying. It's absolutely course management. Like for instance, Ocean Course is a Pete Dye course. What he does is visual deception. He makes it look like there's nowhere to land your T-shot when in reality there's a 60-yard fairway out there. So a lot of times while I'm caddying on the second hole and the guys are looking at it and I can see in their face that they're like, where do I hit this? This looks impossible. I'll tell them, look, to you this looks impossible, but to me, I see if you know how far you hit your driver, then you have literally 100 yards of room out there to land this. So if we pick the right target, you got 50 yards on both sides. So I would say course management is by far the thing that I've learned the most from Caddy.
