Summary

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch. Today, it's all good martinis, as they focus on a serious collision of Chinese military vessels as they harassed a ship from the Philippines, California voters making it clear they want no part of California Gov. Gavin Newsom's gerrymandering scheme, and the Department of Homeland Security reporting many illegal aliens have self-deported.

First, after commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov appearing in Alaska wearing a CCCP sweater, they react to reports that two Chinese military ships collided at high speed as they tried to intimidate a much smaller military vessel from the Philippines. Jim says Beijing should use this as a chance to back off its territorial ambitions in the region but probably won't. They also discuss the mood in Taiwan amid recent rumors of a Chinese invasion.

Next, they lampoon Gov. Newsom’s bid to troll President Trump and Texas Republicans by proposing a ballot measure to undo California’s constitutional requirement for an independent redistricting commission. But polling shows voters overwhelmingly oppose the scheme. Jim also underscores how brazen it is for Democrats to push such a move in one of the most heavily gerrymandered states in America.

Finally, they welcome the DHS report that 1.6 million illegal aliens have voluntarily left the U.S. since Trump became president. This is additional proof that Trump's immigration policies are working. And they also explain how the left and its media allies are taking truly radical approaches to oppose the enforcement of immigration laws.

Today's a very special day.

0:49.2

First of all, it's all good martinis.

0:51.4

And secondly, Jim Garrity is in studio with me. So Jim, first, you're half a world

0:57.9

away in Spain and now we're just a wall or two apart here. So welcome. An iron curtain has

1:03.3

descended between the two of us as we, people wonder, why is Jim in the studio? Are they doing a

1:08.1

special interview with somebody today? No, not today. It's because the power is out of my house because they're still fixing the roof from the tree. Not that I'm bitter about that. I'm starting to understand how Boston felt about the big dig, but that's okay. That's great. I'm raring to go today. Greg. Today, again, all good martinis. We're going to take a look at the numbers who are reportedly self-deporting

as a result of the Trump administration's policies. We're also going to be looking at the California

population's blowback towards Gavin Newsom and his effort to balance things out, as he would say it,

1:39.8

in response to the Texas redistricting effort. And we're going to have some fun at the expense of the

1:45.3

Chinese military, which is always fun. But Jim, before we get into all of that, you know, today is the

1:52.4

Trump-Puton summit in Alaska. And since it's in Alaska, it's going to be a late start. And we

1:57.6

won't know how the summit goes. But we have a pretty good idea of how the Russians are coming into the summit because the foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, walked in his hotel

2:05.3

with a sport coat on, but under the sport coat was a CCCP sweatshirt or sweater, which is, you know,
