Why does Moses ask to see the glory of God? I think the reason is this. Moses knew that he had asked something unthinkable.

He knew that if it were dependent on anything in Mr Moses or anything in the people, there's no way there could be any assurance that God would be gracious to the stiff-neck people.

So he probes into God, show me something about your character, your nature, your glory, your name that

God can talk like that because the manifestation of his name is the revelation of his glory.
