The the Hello and welcome to Behind the News. My name is Doug Henwood. Their

traditional rigorous two segments today, William Harton will take the

measure of just how much lethal aid the US gives to Israel with some additional

notes on self-driving fighter planes because self-driving cars work so well.

And the sociologist Scott Sheeman will contradict many of the things that many of us

believe by telling us that people actually

like their jobs.

We all know that the U.S. showers Israel with money and weapons, but the exact amounts have

until recently remained unclear.

The Biden administration has been in no hurry to

disclose and as well here has been making efforts to hide the scope of the assistance.

A few weeks ago, the Costs of War Project at Brown University's Watson Institute published a paper that tried to put some numbers in the aid and they're very large.

To tell us more, we're joined by one of the authors, William Harton. The others are Linda Bilmas and Stephen Semler.

Harting is now a senior research fellow at the Quincy Institute.

Previous places of employment included the New America Foundation and the World Policy Institute.
