Before that, a few words in the frequently heard complaint

that unemployment insurance benefits, UI for short,

are so big that workers are choosing them over finding jobs.

There's never been much evidence for this proposition,

which has been circulating for a year,

aside from whining employers and the politicians

and pundits who work for them.

In fact, most studies of the matter find UI benefits

of little effect on job search or acceptance.

The latest example of this is a paper

from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
