In seconds, the geographer Richard Walker will tell us what the original no deal

could teach us about a green new deal and then the political

scientist and a legal scholar us use Rana will explore the lack of a left

internationalism. First the green new deal about which behind the news will be doing

many more shows. Richard Walker is a

professor emeritus of geography at Berkeley. He's been in this show several times

mostly talking about California. He's also director of the Living New Deal that's

Living New Deal, all one word,

dot org, a project devoted to cataloging the immense achievements and

legacy of the New Deal. Here's Richard Walker to talk about what the original

could teach the Green New Deal.

So now we're facing the hopes for, certainly not, I wouldn't say the possibility

is for a Green New Deal, but let's talk about the original New Deal.

What if any lessons does the original New Deal. What, if any, lessons does the original hold for the present?

Well, it has any number of lessons. The first one is simply the ambition of the original new deal,

which had very high ambitions,

which had very high ambitions

and introduced programs across a very broad spectrum of problems facing the country.

So the Green New Deal, in a way, tries to do the same thing.

It doesn't just address climate change but also social justice, jobs, wages,

infrastructure, modernization and more.
