Hello and welcome to Behind the News. My name is Doug Henwood. Two guests today in moments of journalist Joel Shalit

will talk about neo-fascism in Germany and the fascist strain Israeli politics and then the law

professor Heidi Matthews will offer a critical perspective on the Me Too

movement as it approaches its first anniversary. This past weekend Far Rightis marched against immigrants in Kemnets in the former East Germany.

The city was once known, ironically enough, as Karl Marxstadt.

Neo-Nazi politics of a strong hold in that part of the country.

Joining the march are leaders of Alternativa for Deutschland, A.F.D.

A. A.P. A. Party gradually entering the German mainstream.

It's the third largest party in Parliament.

Why is this happening? What's the base for this

kind of politics? What are the connections to Germany's Nazi past? And speaking of

neo-fascists, what is the connection of the dominant forces in Israeli

politics today to European fascism?
