The Indian fascist party and its leader, Prime Minister Norendra Modi.

Nothing about coronavirus or its economic fallout.

I'm not sure what I could contribute to coverage of the pandemic

and I just don't know what to make of the sharp stock market sell-off,

which looks big and violent enough to be something of broad economic significance and not just to people who own stocks.

Nor do I have any idea what damage all the sickness and isolation will do?

I'll have more to say next week, God willing.

For now I'll just note that the stock market started all this

from a point of world historical overvaluation and was vulnerable to any kind of shock that could

spark a sell-off, and coronavirus certainly qualifies.

While US households are, by conventional measures in better financial shape than they were in 2007 going

into that crisis, corporations aren't.

They've been squandering money buying their own stock to boost their prices and for many their

treasuries are empty.

At the very least we'll see bankruptcies and layoffs and travel and tourism, hospitality, and

retail.
