guess today as usual in a few moments we'll hear from the sociologist Daniel

Aldana Cohen on the importance of housing in any Green New Deal.

And at the bottom of the hour, Joel Whitney will talk about the CIA's history as a major

purveyor of fake news.

First, climate and housing. Climate change seems like such a vast and intimidating topic, one that can make

one feel helpless and inspire the urge just to turn the page. But the proposal for a green

new deal, a resolution introduced to Congress by the inspiring newcomer

Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, the long-serving Senator Ed Markey,

is a fine way to focus one's thoughts on the topic and in a constructive fashion.

Last week Thea Rio Franco's, one of the editors of a series of articles, current and forthcoming

in Jacobin magazine, offered an overview of the series and of the topic.

This week we'll hear from one of the contributors to that series Daniel Aldena Cohen on the central role of housing in a Green New Deal.

Cohen is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Housing earns a passing mention in this Green New Deal resolution,

but it's not a centerpiece and you think it should be, right?
