first Adam Kotsko will talk about evangelicalism and then Sheja Sharma will explore the

reasons Indians are in the streets demonstrating against their government.

First, Evangelicalism.

Adam Kotsko is on this show a bit over a year ago to discuss his book,

Neoliberalism's demons, a theological look at the beast.

His essay, The Evangelical Mind, appeared in the print edition of N-plus magazine and was recently released

from behind the paywall.

In it, Costco talks about what is like to grow up in that world and what

evangelicals believe. To set it up, here's a bit from Amy Grant's 1982 song, I have decided.

It's indecently catchy, but it also captures something important

about Born-again theology, as Adam Kowsko will explain. One need not be good to be

saved. And your self-righteous righteous pain because the only good inside your heart is the good

that Jesus brings when the world begins to see you change, don't expect them to applaud.
