Summary

The Behind The Bike series aims to open the doors to bike brands and, introduce you to the people who help bring specific bikes to the market. On this episode I chat with three members of Canyon's product development and marketing team to find our more about the start to finish journey of a new bike model.

First on the podcast I was joined by Daniel Oster, Director of the gravity product range who explains his day to day job, keeping an eye on marketing trends and bringing a new bike to market. Moritz Stroer explains the development of Canyon's 'shapeshifter' technology and Jack Noy discusses how important Canyon's UK HQ is to support customers, arrange demo events and UK specific marketing.

If you've not listened to this series before, the objective of this podcast is to take you the listener inside a bike brand and introduce you to some of the people who help bring specific bikes to market.

On this episode, I'm joined by some members of the Canyon team.

0:33.9

And last but not least, we're going to have a chat with Jack Noy. Jack heads up Canyon, UK.

0:38.3

He basically does all manner of things from marketing through to customer support and also helps alongside the demo team too.

0:46.3

I've been riding Canyons' Strive 8.0 for a couple of months now, basically since lockdown, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on this bike.

0:55.4

Canyon sort of described this bike as an all-mountain enduro bike. It has their patented

1:00.6

shapeshifter on it, which if you're not too sure what that is, then bear with us, because we're

1:05.2

going to take a bit of a deep dive into that with Meritz. It retails at £,549 pound and is stacked with a good spec. Like I said,

1:16.1

I fully enjoyed my time on this bike. I'm not going to go too deep into sort of geometry or anything

1:20.1

like that on it right now, but we do get into that a little bit on the podcast as you will hear.

1:25.7

So without further ado, I'm just going to hand over to Daniel now, who's going to talk us

1:30.3

through a little bit about product development, and then into Maritz, who's been

1:33.6

Canyon for around six years, and then Jack, who heads up Canyon, UK, like I said before.

1:38.6

So enjoy the episode, folks, and I hope you guys take something away from this.

1:42.4

Enjoy.

1:45.0

Okay, yeah, I'm Daniel Oster, with Canyon, yeah, since 2008 now.

1:53.4

And it was not initially my plan to be with a company so long.

1:58.5

But in the end, yeah, the last 10 or 11 years were quite exciting because the

2:04.5

company was a small one when I started and was growing so much so a lot of interesting stuff so I stayed
