Scientific Triathlon.com. I'm your host, Michael, and this episode is beginner tip 17, where I'll talk

0:14.2

about the comfort zone and the importance of getting out of it. What is the comfort zone?

0:20.7

Well, that's when you're doing what you're

0:22.7

used to doing in the way that you're used to doing it at all times always. This can be the way

0:29.3

you train, it can be where you train in what environment and other conditions, it can be who

that you have to do a ton of training to make very small incremental

1:28.2

improvements when you train your normal training. But then there are those special things that

1:35.2

you can do that you can add to your training that can add a whole lot of decrease your race

1:41.5

times by a whole lot for the time investment that you put into it.

1:45.1

So for example, let's say that you're not very comfortable descending hills on the bike

1:51.4

and you have a hilly race coming up and you can train and train and train on the bike

1:56.6

to make just a small improvement in how fit you are on the bike, at a later point when you're more advanced.
