Will hated staying at his grandmother's house during the summer.

She was blind and his parents said it was good for him to stay and help her because she

lived alone.

He thought she was very nice but she lived in a different city and he wouldn't be able

to see any of his friends for the entire summer.

His parents dropped him off on the first day of the break and said they would be back

to pick him up during the week before classes began.

The first day was nice though.

His grandmother was so happy to see him and had baked pies and cookies.

She asked him about his school year and he chatted excitedly about all of the things

that he had learned and how good his grades had been.

She smiled with Glee as he talked at the kitchen table in between bites of cookies.

That was when he noticed the first roach.

His grandmother was asking him a question but his eyes were glued to the brownish creature

as it scurried from beneath the refrigerator and under the door into the pantry.

And it was just one but Will's stomach became upset to think that the bug may have been

crawling around in his food.

He pushed the tray of cookies away and politely finished his conversation.

The next day Will saw a lot more roaches starting around the house.

While his grandmother's home was very clean, they seemed to be everywhere beneath the couch

crawling across the television set and even crawled out of his shoes before he would put

them on.
