So the title today of the message is becoming a glacier in a gigabyte world.

That's really what the kind of picture we want to put into our thinking in our minds is

because we're living in a culture which all of us love and no one really is opposed to

the fact that things are faster and more available and more instant than they ever have been

and they're going to continue to become faster and more available than they even are now.

And we all love that.

We love that we can when our contracts are up, we can upgrade our phones and we can get

a phone with a faster processor and it's so all the things we used to do we can do faster

now.

All the things we could store, we can store more of them now.

All the data that we could transmit, now we can transmit more data faster than ever

before and that's sort of the holy grail of technology these days.

And when we started out with a bite that's one little transmitted data or one little

storage component of data and then we talk in terms of megabytes and then gigabytes

and then we move on up beyond that, a gigabyte I think is a billion bytes and that's a pretty

powerful storage capacity.

And what we're thinking in our minds looks a little bit like this.

So when we talk about gigabytes we're talking about how much information can we get into

the smallest possible space.

And so what used to take a room full of computers is because you're housed to barely get a rocket

to the moon.
